oṃ gaṃ gaṇapataye namaḥ

vakratuṇḍa mahākāya sūryakoṭi samaprabha| nirvighnaṃ kuru me deva sarvakāryeṣu sarvadā||

Meaning

Ganesh Mantras are dedicated to Lord Ganesh, the remover of obstacles and the deity of wisdom and success. In Hindu tradition, Lord Ganesh is worshipped first before beginning any auspicious activity.

“Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha” is the Bija (seed) mantra of Ganesh, where “Gam” is the Ganesh Bija. The “Vakratunda Mahakaya” mantra describes the form of Lord Ganesh and is a prayer for the removal of all obstacles.

  2. Wednesdays and Ganesh Chaturthi are especially auspicious for chanting
  3. Chant 108 times or 21 times
  4. Using a red sandalwood mala is considered auspicious
  5. Offering modak or laddoo before chanting is ideal
  6. Meditate on Lord Ganesh while chanting
