Calculating…
—
—
- Tithi
Tithi — The lunar day — one of thirty divisions of the moon’s cycle. A tithi can be longer or shorter than a solar day, so it usually begins and ends partway through one.
- —
- Nakshatra
Nakshatra — The lunar mansion — the constellation the moon occupies, out of twenty-seven marked along its monthly path.
- —
- Yoga
Yoga — A period derived by combining the positions of the sun and the moon. There are twenty-seven, each lasting roughly a day.
- —
- Karana
Karana — Half of a tithi. Eleven karanas repeat through the lunar month, so two fall within each lunar day.
- —
- Paksha
Paksha — The half of the lunar month. Shukla Paksha is the waxing fortnight up to the full moon; Krishna Paksha is the waning fortnight up to the new moon.
- —
- Hindu month
Hindu month — The lunar month, named for the nakshatra near which the full moon falls. An extra month, Adhika Masa, is inserted about every three years to keep the lunar and solar years aligned.
