Privacy Policy
This policy covers the Mandali feature on vedpath.org, where a signed-in user can assemble an ordered list of chants and share it via a link or QR code.
What we collect
You only sign in if you want to create a mandali. Signing in uses Google, and we receive your Google account's name, email address, and profile picture. People who merely open a shared mandali link are not asked to sign in and are not individually tracked.
How we use it
We use this information solely to identify you as the owner of your mandalis, to let you manage them, and to display “Created by [your name]” on the mandalis you publish. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
What is public
A mandali's name, location, chant list, and your display name are visible to anyone who has the mandali's share link. Your email address is never shown publicly. Mandali pages are unlisted and marked no-index, so they are not added to search engines by us.
Panchang and location
The Panchang page calculates tithi, nakshatra and daily timings for a place you choose. It never asks for your location on page load — the browser prompt appears only if you press “Use my location”, and declining it does not block the page: a default location is shown, clearly labelled as a default, and you can pick any city instead.
All Panchang calculation runs in your browser. Your coordinates are never sent anywhere to be turned into a Panchang — there is no calculation API for them to travel in. Your chosen location is saved only in your own browser's local storage so the page remembers it next time, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Searching for a place does make one request, to vedpath.org/api/geocode, which
passes the text you typed to an open place-name database (Open-Meteo/GeoNames) and returns
matches. Pressing “Use my location” sends coordinates rounded to about a
kilometre to the same endpoint to look up a town name. VedPath does not log either
request, and the outside database is never told who asked — it sees our server, not you or
your browser. Nothing about a place search is tied to your account.
Storage
Your account details and mandalis are stored in Cloudflare's database (D1). Your login is kept in a signed, HTTP-only cookie on your device; we do not store server-side session records. Your Panchang location preference is stored only in your browser, never on our servers.
Deleting your data
From the My Mandalis page you can delete any individual mandali, or choose “Delete my account & data” to permanently remove your account and all of your mandalis.
Astrology
What astrology data is collected
If you create an astrology profile, VedPath records the details you enter: an optional name, your date of birth, your birth time (unless you tell us you do not know it), and your birth place. Choosing a birth place also records that place's latitude, longitude and timezone, which are what the calculation actually uses. If you opt into a location-sensitive feature, your current location may also be recorded. Nothing is collected unless you fill in the form.
Why it is used
These details are used only to calculate your birth chart and the personalized readings you open — your Rashi, Nakshatra, Lagna, planetary positions, Vimshottari Dasha and current transits — and to suggest devotional texts already published on VedPath. They are not used for advertising, are not sold, and are not combined with any other information about you.
What may be sent to an external calculation service
In the version of VedPath you are using, your astrology calculations run entirely in your own browser, using a calculation library bundled with the site. No birth details are transmitted to VedPath's servers or to any third party, because no request is made. Should VedPath ever switch to an external calculation provider, only the minimum required for the calculation would be sent — birth date, birth time, latitude, longitude and timezone offset — and this page would be updated to say so before that change went live.
What is never sent
Your name is never sent to a calculation provider; it is not needed for any astrological calculation and the code that builds a calculation request has no field capable of carrying it. Your email address, Google account details, favourites, Mandalis and browsing history are never sent either.
Where it is stored
Your astrology profile and the readings calculated from it are stored only in your own browser's local storage, on the device you entered them on. They are not stored in VedPath's database, do not sync between your devices, and are not included in any backup we hold. Clearing your browser data for this site removes them.
Deleting it
Astrology Settings has a Delete Astrology Profile option that removes your saved birth details and every cached reading from this device. Because the data was only ever on your device, that deletion is complete.
Third-party processing
No third party processes your astrology data in the current configuration. The astronomical calculations are performed by open-source libraries running in your browser, which make no network requests of their own. VedPath's pages are served through Cloudflare, which sees the same request metadata it sees for any page you visit — but your birth details are not part of any request, so they are not in that metadata.
